February 2015 – Youth of the Month
Jasmine W. is 13 years old and has been a Club member for 3 years. At the Club she is involved in SMART Girls, Torch Club, Career Launch, Money Matters, SMART Moves, Health Habits and Triple Play. Jasmine’s favorite area in the Club is the computer lab, where she can get her homework done before her parents pick her up. She also enjoys surfing the internet and reading her emails. Jasmine was chosen this month based on her maturity and ability to not get involved in trivial matters. Jasmine feels a sense of responsibility not only to Club members but to the Club in general. She’s quick to offer a hand without being asked. Once she’s done with her homework she help’s others with theirs. She always participates in volunteer work and community services for the club. Last but not least she’s on the honor roll at school and plays the violin for the school band. Jasmine says that before coming to the Boys and Girls Club she felt no sense of giving back to the community but since becoming involved with volunteer work and community service through the Club she understands the importance of helping others out. She understands the importance of paying it forward.
